Trying to find a headset for your Avaya phone?

There are so many different Avaya headset connector cables that it can be quite a daunting task to find the correct one for your particular phone model. When you add in the confusion with all the name changes and spin offs, you have AT&T, Lucent and Avaya phones all with the same model numbers. Fear not! We have sorted it all out for you. Are you trying to connect a headset to your Packet8 6753i, 6755i or 6757i phone?

There's a lot of confusion both on the part of Packet8 (since they don't actually manufacture the phones themselves) and on the part of Plantronics regarding the headset port on the Packet8 phone model 6753i, 6755i and 6767i. If you look these models up on the Plantronics compatibility guide they tell you to buy an H-series headset as well as an M22 amplifier. In reality, you do not need the amplifier. All you need is the H-series headset and the Plantronics A10 cable and you'll plug it directly into the dedicated headset port on the Packet8 phone. Then, the trick is that you need to follow a few simple steps to initially set up the headset button on your Packet8 phone as follows: Press OPTIONS then PREFERENCES then SET AUDIO then AUDIO MODE then choose HEADSET or choose HEADSET/SPEAKERPHONE if you want to be able to toggle back and forth between your headset and the speakerphone. Once the headset is plugged into the headset port with the A10 cable, you just press your Headset/Speakerphone button on your Packet8 phone and you are in business! Great new product for Shoretel IP Phone users with Plantronics wireless headsets!
